The INTERPOL Cybercrime Directorate aspires to help member countries to make cyberspace safer for everyone, by assisting in arresting the criminals and ensuring that they are brought to justice. It aims to become an entity that all law enforcement agencies around the world will seek to actively engage to complement their respective Cybercrime services capacities. In this context the intern is expected to produce background materials, reports, and collaborate across Interpol’s network of National Central Bureaus in support of the Cybercrime Director and the hierarchy in a flexible team approach by researching, developing, and implementing dynamic and innovative support and solutions to policing issues.
The objective is installing an INTERPOL culture in the Cybercrime area to support its member states through the detection and identification of cybercrime, a flexible and dynamic assistance and internationally agreed policing standards, reinforced by agreements with public / private partners and academia.
PRIMARY DUTIES
The incumbent will work closely with the Assistant Directors, Heads and Coordinators, who will guide his/her day-to tasking and work.
As part of the team, the selected candidate will carry out the following functions:
- Support the research, drafting of documentation and material to provide context and situational perspective for the Cybercrime Directorate’s mandate.
- Participate in researching, drafting, and collating material for ongoing operations, for internal distribution in line with the objectives and priorities of the Sub-Directorate.
- Assist in the preparation of external events and working groups, which includes timely communication with member states, preparation of agendas in line with the objectives and priorities of the Directorate, and logistics.
- Participate in the integration of external events and working groups post-event by researching and drafting material on follow-up actions.
- Contribute to the maintenance of working relationships with NCBs and external partners by collaborating and communicating with the relevant points of contact on operational matters.
- Besides the duties outlined above, the post holder can expect to be asked by the hierarchy to support the team with additional tasks related to the Directorate’s mandate, to ensure efficient support to its Member States’ Law Enforcement Agencies.

- To understand how INTERPOL can assist global law enforcement in seeking operational outcomes.
- To understand the INTERPOL’s objectives and value in regional Working Groups.

- To gain experience in the organization of regional and international events.
- To gain experience in building relationships across the public and private sector.
REQUIREMENTS
All candidates will be assessed on the basis of the under-mentioned requirements.
Requirements
- Be a national of one of INTERPOL’s 195 member countries.
- Have attained the legal age in the country of nationality.
Training / Education required
- Be enrolled in, or have graduated from, a post-secondary accredited academic institution no later than the past one year in Cybercrime, International Relations, or similar fields.
Languages
- Professional fluency in English is required.
- A good command of any other INTERPOL official language (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an asset.
Technical skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to draft documents in English / Strong drafting skills.
- Any additional IT-skills would be beneficial.
- Previous experience in research activities/projects.
