SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES, INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
The holder of the post is under the responsibility of the Head of Department Infrastructure - Network & Data Centre, is responsible for installing, administering and optimizing networks and associated components of the IT infrastructure of the Organization in accordance with established service levels agreements.
The networks and associated components concerned are cabling systems, switching systems, WiFi systems, routers, firewalls, secure remote access systems, unified communication systems, hosted within the Datacentres of the Organisation, hosted within the Computer rooms of the Organisation at the Headquarters, on remote sites (Regional Bureaus, external Office and NCBs) and Internet accesses or specialized lines allowing their interconnection.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES
DUTY 1: Daily smooth operation of all systems
- Performs daily monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all switches, firewalls, routers, access points, Internet accesses and other network elements.
- Troubleshoots the network infrastructure, and make corrective actions when necessary, Head of Department Infrastructure - Network & Data Centre or a senior team member;
- Participates to On-call duty (out of business hours).
DUTY 2: Design and implementation of solution & network architecture
- Acts as a project resource and work with senior team members to assist with the design and review of new network equipment.
- Assists senior team members with architecting the network infrastructure required to support projects.
DUTY 3: Level 2&3 IT Support
- Prioritizes and responds to Service Desk tickets as appropriate; provides timely response to escalations in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs)
- Assists Member Countries with their connection to I-24/7 network and its usage, through global support or directly, if necessary, within the limit of network team responsibility.
- Trains and guide global support
- Works on document procedures and processes upon request.
Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
Education and qualification required:
- At least two years of university education or equivalent in the field of information technology.
- Internationally recognized IT certifications.
Experience required:
- At least 3 years’ experience in configuring, and managing netwoks in complex environment ;
- Five years’ experience in the area is required if they do not have the required level of education.
Languages:
- Fluency in English. Proficiency in a second official working language of the Organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an additional asset.
Abilities required:
Mandatory:
- In depth understanding of Network fundamentals, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, Internet protocols
- Experience with firewall and access lists configuration
- Experience with WiFi deployment
- Experience with VPN configuration
Complementary knowledge:
- Experience with proxies configuration
- Experience with QoS management
- Experience in structured cabling deployment
- Experience in unified communication systems
- Knowledge of ITIL methodologies and practices
