SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES, INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
Within the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Executive Directorate/Corporate Product, and reporting to the Head of Department - IT Transformation and Automation and the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Acceleration Lead is responsible for accelerating the adoption of AI capabilities across ICT products by participating directly in product squads to design, prototype, and deliver initial AI-enabled features.
The incumbent contributes hands-on to backend, retrieval, prompt logic, and user interface development, ensuring effective integration with the Organization’s AI and Data Platform.
The role provides technical enablement, proposes improvements to architectural approaches when required, and transfers knowledge to ensure squads can autonomously maintain and evolve AI capabilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES
Duty 1: Squad Participation for AI Feature Delivery
- Participate directly in product squads as an embedded AI specialist to accelerate the design, prototyping, and delivery of AI-enabled product features.
- Contribute hands-on to the development of AI components including backend logic, retrieval and prompt integration, and user interface elements required to expose AI features in the product.
Collaborate closely with developers, architects, designers, and product managers to ensure that AI-powered user experiences are coherent, intuitive, secure, and aligned with product objectives.
Ensure that initial AI features released to production have strong functional and UX foundations upon which squads can independently build and iterate.
Duty 2: Hands-On AI Prototyping, Solution Development and UI Implementation
- Design and implement functional prototypes and target AI components—such as prompt logic, retrieval integration flows, generation workflows, and supporting application logic—required for product-specific AI capabilities.
- Develop both backend and User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) elements for AI-enabled features, ensuring effective user interactions, contextual rendering of AI outputs, validation mechanisms, and robust error handling.
- Leverage the Organization’s AI and Data Platform capabilities to build complete end-to-end solutions and refine them iteratively using realistic operational scenarios.
- Optimize technical and user-experience dimensions of AI features (quality, safety, latency, clarity, usability, and cost) while ensuring alignment with platform constraints and technology standards.
Duty 3: AI Integration Support and Technical Enablement
- Guide product squads in effectively integrating AI features with backend services provided by the AI and Data Platform.
- Configure product-level retrieval logic, data flows, prompts, and generation patterns using standardized platform capabilities.
- Support squads in maturing prototypes into production-ready implementations, ensuring maintainability, quality, and adherence to engineering practices.
Duty 4: Architecture, Quality and Security Alignment
- Design AI-enabled solutions in coordination with Solution Architects to ensure scalability, interoperability, and alignment with established architectural principles.
- Apply AI-specific quality and safety evaluation methods in coherence with DevOps, Quality Assurance (QA), data governance, and security frameworks.
- Ensure solutions operate securely and responsibly when interacting with organizational data and platform services.
- Identify situations where existing architectural principles or standards are not fit for purpose in the context of AI delivery and proactively challenge these constraints by proposing well-justified alternatives or improvements in collaboration with architecture leadership.
Duty 5: Knowledge Transfer and Squad Upskilling
- Document patterns, prompts, evaluation methods, retrieval configurations, and UI implementations developed for AI features.
- Provide targeted coaching and structured handover to empower product squads to autonomously maintain, improve, and expand AI capabilities after initial delivery.
Duty 6: Cross-Squad AI Acceleration and Best Practices
- Develop reusable guidance, prompt libraries, configuration templates, retrieval-integration patterns, and evaluation frameworks that promote coherent and high-quality AI delivery across ICT.
- Share lessons learned, contribute to internal communities of practice, and foster consistent AI engineering standards across squads.
Duty 7: Continuous Improvement and Platform Feedback Loop
- Maintain a continuous feedback loop with the AI and Data Platform team by reporting integration challenges, usage patterns, performance findings, and emerging product needs.
- Contribute practical insights that help inform the evolution of backend AI services and supporting platform capabilities.
Duty 8: Change Management and Adoption Enablement
- Support product teams in preparing user-facing documentation, training material, and adoption guidance for AI-enabled features.
- Collect user feedback, assess initial functional impact, and support iterative improvements to maximize safe and effective adoption of AI capabilities.
