SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES, INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST


The Training platforms Specialist works in the INTERPOL Virtual Academy unit, under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director, Global Academy (AD/ACA), which forms part of the Capacity Building and Training Directorate (CBT). The INTERPOL Virtual Academy is INTERPOL’s digital training solution, providing a range of self-paced and instructor-led training for law enforcement in INTERPOL’s 196 member countries. The Training platforms Specialist supports the delivery of high-quality digital training content, courses and programmes aimed at law enforcement. Working with units across the Organization, and external stakeholders, he/she helps disseminating and promoting digital training contents, and is involved in the daily management of the various platforms forming part of the Virtual Academy.She/he also provides support for the development of guidelines and policies pertaining to digital training.

 

The Training platforms Specialist promotes and conducts work in accordance with INTERPOL Training Standards and the Frameworks for Human Rights and Gender Mainstreaming in Law Enforcement Capacity Building. Her/his work is also aligned to INTERPOL rules and regulations, the INTERPOLStrategic Framework and the Capacity Building and Training Directorate’s strategies, policies and guidelines.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES


Reporting to the digital learning solutions Coordinator, Digital Training Platforms, the Training platforms Specialist performs the key duties and activities outlined below.


DUTY 1: Virtual Academy daily management
Support the Training platforms Administrators in the day-to-day management of their platforms, to ensure availability, accessibility, quality and visibility of the Virtual Academy digital learning contents to the users of the Virtual Academy services, following the standard operational procedures and workflows established by the administrators.

Assist platform administrators in tracking, collecting, and analyzing training related data generated within the Virtual Academy digital learning environment and within the organization.
Assist preparing functional documentation to support the deployment of new digital components for the Virtual Academy, and conduct regular technological watches on the trends of the digital learning market.

 

DUTY 2: User support and communication
Monitor requests and provide ad hoc support to the users of the Virtual Academy services following the Standard operational procedures defined for each service.
Maintain updated user documentation and adapt format and language according to the needs of the different Virtual Academy target groups, and the evolutions of the services provided by the Virtual Academy.
Troubleshoot users’ issues relating to platform access, under guidance of the platform administrator(s), in a timely manner.

Support course managers during online trainings (small private online courses) and educational webinars through the creation of online sessions, registering participants and tracking the results.
Under the supervision of management, create communication contents to promote the activities of the Virtual Academy, using a variety of channels (website, social medias).

 

DUTY 3: Training delivery and first level troubleshooting
Participate in the delivery of digital training courses, principally through participant engagement management, but also through the delivery of select modules pertaining to her/his area of expertise if relevant.
Conduct effective first level troubleshooting for during delivery. Advise on and help implement the most appropriate communication strategy during course delivery, in collaboration with the relevant team.

 

DUTY 4: Participant Life Cycle management
Contribute to the Participant Life Cycle management of online activities, in accordance with INTERPOL training policy. Specifically, participate in the management of the invitation, selection, registration, onboarding, and certification of participants of selected courses. Where courses are delivered on behalf of other units, ensure that the relevant unit remains fully appraised of all relevant information pertaining to those processes delegated to him/her.


DUTY 6: Evaluation of digital training
Support the creation and implementation of mechanisms designed to evaluate digital training. In collaboration with other CBT Officials, review the results of these evaluations and proposes improvements to future digital training initiatives as part of a continual review and improvement cycle.


DUTY 7: Mentoring of junior staff and support for digital training guidelines and policies
Mentor junior staff within the Directorate, as requested by the hierarchy, on digital training development and delivery.
Support the development of digital training guidelines and policies, aimed at INTERPOL officials in order to further enhance the quality of digital training at the Organization.
Perform all other related duties as requested by the hierarchy.


 

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:
• At least two years’ University education in IT, behavioural sciences, education related fields.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• At least three years’ experience in police capacity building, training or related area. Five years’ experience in the area is required if they do not have the required level of education.

• Experience with Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS), Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Training Management Systems is required.
• Experience with law enforcement agencies will be considered as an asset.
• Experience working in an international or multicultural environment will be considered an asset.

 

LANGUAGES:
• Professional fluency in English is required. Proficiency in other languages of the Organization will be considered an asset.
