Selected candidates will be expected to report for duty approximately two to three months after receiving an offer of employment at the latest.
This selection exercise may be used to generate a reserve list of suitable candidates that may be used to address Organization's similar staffing needs in the future.
INTRODUCTION OF THE POST
As part of the activities of the Communications Directorate, the post holder will be responsible for providing strategic communications support to the organization and/or specific projects or departments.
The post-holder will report directly to the Campaigns & Advocacy team in the Communications Directorate to ensure alignment with organizational messaging and strategy, and may have day-to-day oversight from staff within other Directorates.
PRIMARY DUTIES
DUTY 1 - PROVIDE STATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS ADVICE AND SUPPORT
• Maximize the impact of communications, to raise awareness, build engagement with target audiences and support organizational or departmental priorities.
• Develop and implement strategic communications by creating, shaping, and delivering targeted messaging and campaigns.
• Provide expert advice and support to staff – both senior and operational – on strategic communications-related topics, such as stakeholder engagement, message development and channel selection, to ensure effective communications.
• Ensure all communications activity is in line with Communications Directorate guidelines, communications best practice and the vision, mission and values of INTERPOL
• Provide relevant advice, training and capacity-building support to law enforcement officials and other stakeholders on effective communications and advocacy techniques.
• Collaborate with other INTERPOL projects and initiatives to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to communications and advocacy.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of communications and advocacy efforts, providing regular reports and recommendations to relevant managers and teams.
DUTY 2 - PRODUCE CONTENT FOR ALL COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORMS
• Create or draft engaging and impactful communications, engagement and advocacy content aligned with the overall INTERPOL and relevant departmental communications strategies to promote the work of project(s) or department(s). Content can include press releases, web stories, social media posts, blog articles, news articles, talking points, topline messaging, opinion pieces, scripts for video productions.
• Create or commission visual materials, such as videos, photos or infographics.
• Support the prioritization of the production of communications content, balancing departmental and organizational priorities, in line with communications best practice, ensuring best value and impact.
• Collaborate closely with INTERPOL's Communications team to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels, and to leverage in-house communications expertise.
DUTY 3 - BUILD STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH STAKEHOLDERS
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with external stakeholders and audiences relevant to their subject matter, including law enforcement agencies, member countries, media, governments, partners, international organizations, think tanks, academic institutions, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to promote INTERPOL.
• Contribute to designing and implementing engagement strategies aimed at connecting with external stakeholders and identifying opportunities for partnerships and collaborations.
• Establish and maintain a network of contacts and relationships with key external stakeholders, including media representatives, influencers, and thought leaders.
• Provide expert advice and coordinate external communications, including media relations, social media, and crisis communications.
• Help develop and implement strategies to measure and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of external communications efforts.
DUTY 4 - DEVELOP CASE STUDIES AND OTHER STORIES
• Collaborate with teams, projects and programmes to identify stories, messages and compelling narratives that support organizational and departmental priorities.
• Develop case studies, gain strategic insights and develop success stories as well as human interest stories to demonstrate the project's relevance, effectiveness and impact.
• Promote case studies internally and externally.
DUTY 5 - ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Stay up to date with best practice in communications, as well as relevant developments in law enforcement.
• Where appropriate, conduct field missions to support communications activity, including attending project meeting with staff and attending conferences and training sessions
• Identify and document best practices, challenges, and lessons learned from field work, feeding these back into the project's strategy and Communications Directorate.
• Where appropriate, contribute to donor engagement activities and act as a contact point on communications matters relating to donor relations.
• Where appropriate, provide expert advice for work relating to donor relations, including developing and implementing strategies to support the efforts of directorates to secure additional funding.
• Undertake any communications or engagement activities as requested by the hierarchy.
• Perform any other duty as required by the hierarchy.
REQUIREMENTS

Training/Education required
• Three to four completed years’ University degree in a relevant field is required.
• A Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an asset.
• Ten years’ experience are required in the area if the post holder does not have the required level of education.
Experience required
• At least 3 years of professional experience in communications, preferably in an international organization or setting, government agency, law enforcement or development environment.
• Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing communications strategies, campaigns and advocacy, via an evidence-based approach.
• Strong stakeholder relations skills, together with experience in working with the media.
• Familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems, basic design, video and photo editing tools and other digital communications tools.
Languages
• Proficiency in English, with working knowledge of other official INTERPOL languages (Arabic, French, Spanish) an asset.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
