Selected candidates will be expected to report for duty approximately two to three months after receiving an offer of employment at the latest.
This selection exercise may be used to generate a reserve list of suitable candidates that may be used to address Organization's similar staffing needs in the future.
INTRODUCTION OF THE POST
The Executive Directorate Partnerships and Planning (EDPP) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the strategic portfolio of the INTERPOL in a comprehensive and cross-organizational fashion.
The role of the Communications Office (COM) is to promote the activities and messages of INTERPOL to our internal and external stakeholders worldwide, and to encourage greater understanding of the Organization’s mission to prevent and fight crime through enhanced cooperation and innovation on police and security matters. Its main functions are: Internal Communication; Press Office management and media activities; Campaign and Advocacy; and Web and Multimedia.
Under the authority and the supervision of the Art Manager, in the Web and Multimedia unit, the incumbent will provide support to specific projects/issues/activities handled by COM and will contribute to their implementation.
PRIMARY DUTIES
DUTY 1 - Provide communications support
• Assist in providing communications support, in coordination with COM colleagues and relevant units – in any of the following areas 1) video editing, 2) web publishing 3) design or 4) writing and editing
• Propose and help shape editorial and multimedia content for different platforms and audiences.
• Provide administrative support to COM and stakeholders for the achievement of Communications results.
• Assist COM management in the tracking of COM activities’ execution. Maintain records on assigned COM activities and their respective status in accordance with the guidance from the COM management, policies and procedures.
DUTY 2 - Support communications-led meetings and other high-level events
• Engage and assist in all stages in preparing and providing on-site media support and preparation for interviews, media visits, press briefings, etc, and carry out related media research and outreach when necessary: support the initiation, planning, execution and follow-up.
• Undertake and/or facilitate routine video/photo activities tied to INTERPOL events, visits, purposed to social media and web platforms, in coordination with other COM colleagues and relevant units.
• Prepare reports summarizing the main findings and outcomes for communications of the organized events.
• In compliance with the Organization’s priorities, management decisions and relevant policies/rules, perform all daily ad-hoc tasks pertaining to the Communications development.
DUTY 3 - Research & support to drafting in the communications area
• Undertake news monitoring activities including on dedicated news monitoring platform/s and open sources, regularly and upon specific requests.
• Flag up to COM urgent news stories.
• Using dedicated tools and platforms, undertake research on performance analysis, metrics and trends tied to INTERPOL activities, operations and events.
• Under the close supervision and guidance of their hierarchy, draft regular papers related to communications matters and assist in the drafting of official communications. Contribute to presentations and/or talking points, benchmarking and showcasing key points by synthesizing research on performance analytics.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of communications ecosystem.
DUTY 4 - Perform any other duty as requested by the hierarchy.
REQUIREMENTS

Training/Education required
- A vocational diploma is required in a related area, or the Baccalaureate or equivalent diploma.
Experience required
- At least two years’ experience in a relevant area, preferably related to internal and/or external communications, editorial work, media, languages, or similar areas. Candidates with a two-year higher education diploma need no previous experience.
- Experience or exposure to international or multicultural environment is a strong asset.
Languages
- Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in a second official working language of the Organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an additional asset.
Abilities required
