*This selection exercise will be used to generate a list of recommended candidates that will be used to address Organization's staffing needs in the future. If recommended and then offered a post, any potential subsequent extension will be subject to the terms of the Organization’s Staff Manual, availability of funds, satisfactory performance and/or the return of the concerned Staff Member to the post.
Tests/interviews in connection to this selection procedure will take place approximately 3 to 4 weeks after the deadline for applications. Applicants are kindly requested to plan their availability during this period accordingly, in case they are short-listed.
Selected candidates will be expected to report for duty approximately two to three months after receiving an offer of employment at the latest.
INTRODUCTION OF POST
The IT Product Manager in INTERPOL’s Information Systems & Technology Directorate (IS) takes comprehensive care of a number of IT products that usually belong to a coherent crime domain or service segment by identifying service requirements from Business (Police or Corporate) for interrelated components and by ensuring that the required IT Products are developed in line with INTERPOL’s corresponding Business Strategy and maintained throughout their entire life-cycle.
He/she plays a pivot role in ensuring that INTERPOL’s services and products add real value to Law Enforcement officers in the Member Countries and for the functioning of the Organization.
The IT Product Manager is expected to drive the creation and provision of relevant services and products from an intersection point between Law Enforcement Business/Corporate Functions, Technology and User Experience. Communicative and obsessed in optimizing the services and products for the best business goals, he/she stays abreast with Technology and Innovation and ensures that users and customers get the services and products that enable INTERPOL’s Policing Business and Corporate Functions to be successful.
PRIMARY DUTIES
DUTY 1: PRODUCT STRATEGY AND SCOPING
• Determine business needs and develops concepts for added value IT services, based on business owner and business product manager strategy, objective and pain point.
• Recommend the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing service strategies and product specifications.
• Develop and appraises new product ideas.
• Identify areas of innovation and corresponding research needs in collaboration with IS Engineering Office (IS/IPP/ENGO) to optimize concepts and products.
• Involve IS/IT Customer Services Sub-Directorate (IS/ICS) in the Product Strategy to initiate and follow-up the communication and change management process with the Member Countries.
• Involve IS/Operations Sub-Directorate (IS/OPE) in the Product Strategy to ensure initiatives are compatible with current operational capacities and strategies to ensure robust product reliability.
DUTY 2: PRODUCT LIFECYCLE
• Establish and monitors product roadmaps (functional and technical), in a 12 month granular vision and a 5 year projection.
• Include in the roadmaps the functional and technical evolutions to consistently provide the best value for money, in coordination with business owner, business product manager, IS teams.
• Include in the roadmaps the lifts of the Members Countries through NCB’s and IS/ICS.
• Include, in coordination with IS/OPE and the Information Systems Security Office (ISSO), the necessary maintenance in the roadmaps to ensure consistent support and level of service of the product in time (security, availability, performance, obsolescence…).
• Lead product roadmaps execution.
• Participate in the product specification and user interface definition.
• Manage the external or internal IT solution supply by directing, planning and liaising with Project Managers (external or internal / IT or Business).
• Act as IT Project Manager for small initiative.
• Coordinate product evolutions elaboration with the suppliers and internal technical teams.
• Coordinate the functional testing strategy with the Business Product Manager.
• Act as a facilitator in the product problem and crisis management.
• Challenge and optimize the product recurring costs.
• Continuously act as passionate, driving pivot between Law Enforcement business needs, users and technology in order to accomplish the provision of new or improved services and products.
DUTY 3: PRODUCT PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
• Define and follow relevant statistics and KPIs.
• Follow up on business results and the usage of products and services with business owner, Business Product Manager and IS/ICS.
• Provide product related information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product reports and analyses, answers questions and requests.
• Determine product pricing and service maintenance costs, taking into account volumetric requirements and anticipated usage growths.
• Prepare return-on-investment (RoI) analyses.
• Develop feedbacks channel with the products stakeholders and end users through IS/ICS.
DUTY 4: PRODUCT ADOPTION FACILITATOR
• Be a referent on the products of his/her portfolio.
• Develop and promotes communication, marketing and outreach strategies related to the products in portfolio in cooperation with IS/ICS.
• Ensure IS/ICS teams have all the necessary information to promote and support the products.
• Ensure close co-operation of IS with Business and Corporate owners to anticipate their demands and problems.
• Help maintaining product management and operational staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by organizing and attending domain specific meetings and working sessions, review professional publications, establishepersonal networks and participate in professional societies.
Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
Training/Education required
- Three to four years’ education at a University or specialized higher education establishment.
Experience required
- At least five years of relevant experience, preferably in the area of Product Management and/or Marketing, ideally within an international environment.
Languages
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in a second official working language of the Organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an additional asset.
Special skills/aptitudes required
- Strong communication skills, both in written and oral form (public speaking, leading meetings and delivery of presentations)
