The Programme attracts talented students or recent graduates to the Organization and provides them with:
- A better understanding of the Organization’s goals and objectives and how international police cooperation is organized

As of 1 January 2025, the internship allowance is EUR 700 and a transport subsidy of EUR 30 per month. An additional housing subsidy of EUR 170 per month will be provided to eligible interns.
Interns are required to be subscribed to a health insurance coverage for the entire duration of the internship. However, they are eligible to request enrolment in the Organization’s health insurance coverage at no additional cost.

Internship Description
The INTERPOL Data Protection Office is tasked with the independent compliance control of data processing operations within the Interpol Information System, including the provision of advice and recommendations. The Office further ensures that the Organization’s data processing framework is supported and facilitated through the appropriate legal, technical, operational and organizational channels. It also promotes a data protection culture within the Organization. The Office reports directly to the Secretary General.
The main functions of this unit are as follows:
- Control compliance on the implementation of INTERPOL’s data protection framework and take appropriate measures to improve internal control and risk management regarding data processing operations;
- Advice in data processing activities, especially when likely to entail high risks for the data subject;
- Ensure coordination with all data protection officers designated at NCB level and at international partnership level;
- Strengthen a data protection culture among staff;
- Ensure liaison with the Commission of Control of INTERPOL’s files on data protection issues;
- Cooperate with data protection officers of other institutions to exchange best practices
Under the direct supervision of the INTERPOL Data Protection Officer and Counsel DPO, the selected candidate will assist the DPO's team with:

Conduct research on various data protection, legal and technical topics in support of the daily tasks of the Data Protection Office

Provide support in the review of data processing agreements

Provide support in the review of registers of data processing activities

Provide support in the review of data protection impact assessments

Provide support in preparation of meetings and trainings organized by the Office

Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor and/or the hierarchy

Qualifications and Experience
REQUIREMENTS
- Be a national of one of INTERPOL’s 196 member countries.
- Have attained the legal age in the country of nationality.
TRAINING / EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Be enrolled in a, or have graduated from, a post-secondary accredited academic institution within the past one year on the date of submission of their application in Law (preferably with a specialization in ICT Law/data protection or at least proven interest in ICT Law/data protection).
LANGUAGES
- Full professional fluency in English is required
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook is required.
- Strong interest in the technical aspects of data processing, information management.
