Any potential subsequent extension will be subject to the terms of the Organization’s Staff Manual, to satisfactory performance and to availability of funds.

 

Tests/interviews in connection to this selection procedure will take place approximately 4 weeks after the deadline for applications. Applicants are kindly requested to plan their availability during this period accordingly, in case they are short-listed.

 

​Selected candidates will be expected to report for duty approximately two to three months after receiving an offer of employment at the latest.

 

This selection exercise may be used to generate a reserve list of suitable candidates that may be used to address Organization's similar staffing needs in the future.

 

SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES, INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVIES OF THE POST 

 

Fugitive Investigative Support (FIS) Sub-Directorate assists member countries in the location and apprehension of fugitives, through a number of initiatives, including the provision of police operational support, focused fugitive operations and projects, operational working groups, conferences and training initiatives.  FIS also cooperates with international bodies and national entities to support searches for individuals wanted for war crimes.  The team maintains a network of experts in fugitive investigations, shares best practices and innovative techniques and provides specialized training to build capacity in fugitive investigations.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the incumbent is responsible for developing and enhancing partnerships with relevant organizations on global crime issues; providing expertise on the relevant specific crime areas and facilitates the flow of information on related crimes.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES

DUTY 1:

Identify, establish and maintain contact with experts in the field.

DUTY 2:

Organize and participate in training programmes, expert group meetings and conferences.

DUTY 3:

Monitor and analyse information related to fugitive investigations.

DUTY 4:

Pursue strategic partnerships with appropriate third party institutions and organizations.

DUTY 5: 

Develop best practice solutions to problems limiting the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies.

DUTY 6:

Prepare intelligence reports for dissemination to member countries.

DUTY 7:

Perform any other related duties as may required by the hierarchy.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

Education and qualification required:

  • Three-to-four years education at an accredited University or other specialize higher education establishment in a relevant field.

 

Experience required:

  • At least three years in the area in question. 
  • 10 years’ relevant experience is required if the post holder does not have the required level of education.
  • Experience with law enforcement agencies will be considered as an asset;
  • Experience working in an international or multicultural environment would be an asset.

languages:

 

  • Proficiency in English (written and oral).
  • Working knowledge of any of the other official languages of the Organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) will be considered an asset and for some posts, a requirement.
