​Selected candidates will be expected to report for duty approximately two to three months after receiving an offer of employment at the latest.

 

This selection exercise may be used to generate a reserve list of suitable candidates that may be used to address Organization's similar staffing needs in the future.

 

 

INTRODUCTION OF THE POST
The Executive Directorate Partnerships and Planning (EDPP) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the strategic portfolio of the INTERPOL in a comprehensive and cross-organizational fashion. Within EDPP, the role of the Communications Office (COM) is to promote the activities and messages of INTERPOL to our internal and external stakeholders worldwide, and to encourage greater understanding of the Organization’s mission to prevent and fight crime through enhanced cooperation and innovation on police and security matters.  Its main functions are:  Corporate & Internal Communications; Press; Campaigns and Advocacy; and Creative Design and Print.

Under the authority and the supervision of the Website Officer, the post holder will support the websites of the Organization (public website, restricted website and intranet).

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

DUTY 1 - Publish information to the websites
• Publish information to the websites using the Content Management System according to the style and structure of each site. This includes text and media files (documents, images, video). 

• Identify how best to publish each item of information, to attract the interest of users and considering the usability of different platforms (desktop, mobile).

• Ensure all content published on the public website is maximized for Search Engine Optimisation and respect the Organization’s rules.

• Update all four language versions as available. 

DUTY 2 - Write content for digital platforms
• Write engaging, clear and meaningful content about INTERPOL activities for all websites (public, intranet, extranet)

• Create written content for other digital communications platforms

• Collaborate with COM colleagues on writing multimedia content for digital platforms (infographics, photos, videos, animations) 

DUTY 3 - Contribute to improvement of websites
• Identify any technical problems, raise them to hierarchy and help test solutions provided.

• Use analytical tools to measure the impact and performance of the public website and use this to suggest how to use this to improve the site’s functionality and value.

• Monitor external websites for new ideas and functions that would benefit the Organization.

• Debrief with units at the end of a non-routine task to gather feedback. 

DUTY 4 - Support COM to continually improve its service
• Develop a network of contacts and continuously liaise with units to ensure a good relationship is established and a clear communication channel open.

• Carry out any other related activities according to the evolving needs of COM and of the Organization, and as requested by the hierarchy. 

 

REQUIREMENTS
All candidates will be assessed on the under mentioned requirements. Training/Education required
• At least two years’ University education in the area in which incumbents perform their duties. 

Experience required
• At least three years’ experience in writing for websites or digital publishing. Five years’ experience in this area is required if they do not have the required level of education. 

Languages
Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in a second official working language of the Organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an additional asset. 

Abilities required
• Excellent writing and editing skills

• Excellent skills in organization of information

• Experience in using website publishing systems an advantage

• Knowledge of photo editing software an advantage
