The Programme attracts talented students or recent graduates to the Organization and provides them with:
- A better understanding of the Organization’s goals and objectives and how international police cooperation is organized

As of 1 January 2025, the internship allowance is EUR 700 and a transport subsidy of EUR 30 per month. An additional housing subsidy of EUR 170 per month will be provided to eligible interns.
Interns are required to be subscribed to a health insurance coverage for the entire duration of the internship. However, they are eligible to request enrolment in the Organization’s health insurance coverage at no additional cost.

Primary duties
The purpose of the internship is to take part in the daily activities of the INTERPOL Language Support Unit. The intern will gain a stronger perception of multilingual document project management and production tasks, particularly within an international organization. The intern will work under the supervision and guidance of the Head of the Language Support Unit (LSU) and will assist the team in performing the following tasks:
Project preparation
- Support in the verification of budget codes provided by clients to ensure they can be retrieved from the list maintained by Finance.
- Support in the preparation of charts in Microsoft Excel provided by clients, highlighting only the cells and text that require translation.
- In close collaboration with the four language departments and relevant colleagues within LSU, create perfectly aligned bitexts of reference documents.
- Where relevant and as required, help in the production of pre-translated versions of documents using the aligned reference document bitexts.
Outsourcing to external language service providers
- Provide external language service providers with all necessary documentation (e.g., documents for translation/revision, glossaries, reference documents) and receive completed translations/revisions in accordance with established security protocols.
Production of language versions of notices
- Assist in the validation, coordination, and archive translation requests for notices.
- Assign tasks to the colleague responsible for producing Arabic language versions of notices.
Final verification and release
- Help in proofreading and in conducting a final verification of the project against its specifications before delivery to the client, and archive language versions of press releases, IPCQ messages, and any other documents as required.
Data analysis and reconciliation
- Support in the reconciliation of data between the workflow management tool and the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Working within the Language Support Unit, the selected applicant will:
- Gain hands-on experience in the management and production of multilingual document projects.
- Gain hands-on experience in working with the types of IT tools in use in a translation service: workflow management tools, computer-assisted translation tools, etc.
- Gain experience in working with a multi professional team (language service providers, translators, revisers, proofreaders, project managers, language technology and terminology coordinator).
- Gain knowledge of the authoring–translation–publishing (ATP) chain.
- Understand the lifecycle of documents, in particular legal and statutory meeting documents.
