Throughout this internship, the selected intern will contribute to the activities of the Office of Internal Oversight, headed by the Director, and will develop a holistic view on oversight matters in an international organization, as well as research skills.

The Office of Internal Oversight is composed of 5 units: Internal Investigation, Internal Audit and Risk Management, Ethics and Corporate Responsibility, Confidentiality and Due Diligence Desk, and Information Security Management.

 

The selected applicant, under the supervision of the Director, will:  

  • Support day-to-day operations by providing general support to the Office of Internal Oversight, such as helping to maintain records and documents, including to each of the units as may be appropriate;
  • Assisting with administrative tasks, including the assisting with conducting work processes, such as organizing meetings and events;
  • Conduct research and draft notes for the development of strategies, policies and programs to support the units of the Office of Internal Oversight;
  • Research, benchmark, identify best practices and provide insight into Office of Internal Oversight, such as Ethics and Corporate Responsibility, Internal Investigations, Internal audit, Confidentiality and Due Diligence Unit, Information Security frameworks, etc.
  • Assist with the update, development, publication and communication of policies and operational procedures;
  • Assist with operational implementation such as follow-up of recommendations, systems implementation, drafting requirements and change management;
  • Any other duties requested by the superior regarding Oversight.

 

Working on different ongoing projects for the Office of Internal Oversight, the selected applicant will:

  • Gain an insight into INTERPOL's structure and mandate as a global leader in international police cooperation;
  • Understand the critical role of oversight functions in ensuring the integrity and effectiveness in an international organization,
  • Learn and develop technical skills relevant to oversight procedures in international organizations such as internal investigations, internal audit and risk management, project and time management, cultural awareness, integrity etc;
  • Strengthen and develop research, analysis, writing, communication and language skills; 
  • Learn to navigate a multicultural work environment and adapt to the diverse working cultures of INTERPOL's 196 member countries.

 

Requirements

Requirements

  • Be a national of one of INTERPOL’s 196 member countries;
  • Have attained the legal age of majority in their country of nationality.

 

Training/Education Required

  • Be enrolled in, or have graduated from, a post-secondary accredited academic institution within the past six months by the date of submission of their application in a relevant field of study related with but not limited to Law, Audit, Public Administration, International Relations, or any related field.

 

Languages

  • Professional fluency in English is required;
  • A good command of any other INTERPOL official language (Arabic, French and/or Spanish) would be an asset.

 

Technical skills

  • Enhanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is required, in particular: Word, PowerPoint and Excel (figure and formulas);
  • Knowledge of Case Management Systems, audit management, risk management systems is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proven ability to apply these in carrying out high-level research and operational tasks, identifying key issues and presenting findings and recommendations;
