This selection exercise will be used to generate a reserve list of suitable candidates that may be used to address Organization's similar staffing needs in the future.
SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES,
INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST/RÉSUMÉ DES MISSIONS, Y COMPRIS DES BUTS ET OBJECTIFS DU POSTE
The Commission for the Control of INTERPOL's Files (CCF) is an independent body in charge of: Monitoring the application of the Organization's data protection rules to personal data processed by INTERPOL; Advising the Organization regarding any operations or projects concerning the processing of personal information; Processing requests for access to INTERPOL's files.
Under the direct supervision of the Secretary of the Commission or his/her representative, the post holder will monitor and finalize files assigned to him/her. He/she will also carry out research and draft legal documents.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES/PRINCIPALES MISSIONS ET ACTIVITÉS
DUTY 1/Mission 1 :
- The post holder analyses files assigned to him/her, seek solutions to problems encountered and prepares legal opinions.
- He/she essentially studies individual requests assigned to him/her and may also work on other legal matters related to the Commission’s role.
- He/she carries out documentary research of a legal nature in a variety of areas for the information of the Secretary of the Commission, him/her representative or members of the Commission.
- He/she prepares studies, correspondence, minutes of meetings, analysis reports, draft rules and other documents intended for the Commission, the Organization’s bodies (General Secretariat, General Assembly and Executive Committee) or other entities outside the Organization, following specific instructions laid down by the Secretary of the Commission pr him/her representative.
- He/she may be required to take part in meetings organized by the Commission of by the Commission or him/her representative.
DUTY 2/Mission 2 :
- He/she performs any other duties in accordance with instructions given by the Secretary of the commission or him/her representative.
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS, COMPÉTENCES ET APTITUDES
Education and qualification required/FORMATION:
- Three to four years’ education at a University or other specialized higher education establishment in law;
- Master’s, LLM, LLD or equivalent in Law would be an asset;
- Specialization in international
Experience required/EXPÉRIENCE:
- At least three years’ professional experience in the relevant fields of legal activities.
- Ten years’ experience in the area is required If the post holder does not have the required level of education;
- Human rights law/ Criminal law expertise or court experience would be an assets.
- Experience in an International Organization and knowledge/practice in the field of human rights or of data protection would also be considered as assets.
Languages/langues:
- Professional fluency in English is required, including strong writing skills
- Professional fluency in Spanish or Arabic (oral and written) is also required.
- Good working knowledge in another INTERPOL working languages (French, Arabic, Spanish) would be desirable.
