SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES,

INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST/RÉSUMÉ DES MISSIONS, Y COMPRIS DES BUTS ET OBJECTIFS DU POSTE

 

The Commission for the Control of INTERPOL's Files (CCF) is an independent body in charge of: Monitoring the application of the Organization's data protection rules to personal data processed by INTERPOL; Advising the Organization regarding any operations or projects concerning the processing of personal information; Processing requests for access to INTERPOL's files.

 

Within the CCF Secretariat, the Legal Assistant will provide legal support to the Commission and its activities, as per the supervisor’s or representative’s instructions. In particular, the job holder will process the assigned individual requests and files, based on established CCF jurisprudence, legal standards, and policies. He/she also will also carry out research, drafts legal documents and will assist senior lawyers.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES/PRINCIPALES MISSIONS ET ACTIVITÉS

 

DUTY 1/Mission 1 :

  • Process and analyse individual requests assigned to him/her, by applying established CCF jurisprudence and applicable rules, and manage the caseload to ensure respect of the applicable deadlines. Prepare the required legal opinions/documents to process cases, on the basis of standard documents and templates. Suggest any improvements to facilitate the work of the Secretariat of the Commission.

 

DUTY 2/Mission 2 :

  • Assist in the ‎preparation, compiling, drafting, and editing of reports, legal studies, minutes of meetings, and any other documents, following specific instructions and/or guidance.

 

DUTY 3/Mission 3 :

  • Carry out documentary research of a legal nature in a variety of areas and/or open-source research for the information of the Secretary of the Commission or members of the Commission or to assist other lawyers within the Secretariat.

 

DUTY 4/Mission 4:

  • Perform any other duties as required by the hierarchy.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

Education and qualification required/FORMATION:

  • At least two years’ University education in law with a completed degree/diploma.
  • Three years’ degree in law (LLB, Licence, BA or equivalent) is highly desirable.

 

Experience required/EXPÉRIENCE:

  • At least three years’ professional experience in legal activities.
  • Experience in legal casework or in a judicial setting would be an asset.
  • Experience in an International Organization and knowledge/practice in the field of human rights or of data protection would also be considered as assets.

 

Languages/langues:

  • Professional fluency in English is required, including strong writing skills
  • Professional fluency in Spanish or Arabic (oral and written) is also required.
  • Good working knowledge in another INTERPOL working languages (French, Arabic, Spanish) would be desirable.
